Update: Sold Texas Instruments TI-83+ Graphing Calculator

I love it when Craigslist folks are not flakey. I don't like it when they show up early at my door when I'm still brushing my teeth. But I guess it beats not showing up at all.

Anyway, so a guy came over this morning to buy the TI-83+ graphing calculator. While I was scrounging around for batteries so he could test the calculator, he told me he is going back to school and is starting his math class on Monday. He had hurt his back working (hence the cane) so he was looking for a career change, perhaps the medical field.

He said people in his area (Oxnard/Ventura) wanted $50 for their calculator so he thought he would drive 10 extra minutes to get mine for $35. I find it funny that people were pricing their calculators so high. The going rate on eBay was about $35 (excluding all the fees etc.), but these folks had probably paid the retail of close to $100.

Well my $2 investment turned into $35, so a net profit of $33.

Between this sale, the Apple Mighty Mouse sale, and the sweet furniture I picked up yesterday, it makes up for not garage sailing today. I will post next week about the furniture once I get it all home.

Update: Sold Apple Bluetooth Mighty Mouse

This afternoon I met a photographer and his brand new Macbook Pro at Starbucks in Newbury Park. He had contacted me yesterday asking if he could buy the Apple Bluetooth Mighty Mouse I had listed on Craigslist.

I bought the mouse and Apple Bluetooth Keyboard exactly a month ago for $18 and 4 crappy 4 AA batteries. I listed the mouse on Craigslist for $30 which I thought was a little high. The photographer was very pleased when he saw the mouse, as it was in mint condition, and asked what I had it listed at.

"$40?" He asked

"No, no" I said, "$30. But if you want to pay me $40 that is fine with me!"

He said he was so happy with the whole arrangement, he gave me $35.

Since I am keeping the keyboard for my iPad, I still made $17 purchasing the same keyboard I was about to pay $45 for.

Not bad...

Someone is coming tomorrow morning to (hopefully) buy my TI-83+ for $35. We will see...

AMC Silver Experience Ticket - $1 - Limit 2

Sweet Groupon deal on AMC Silver movie tickets. $1 for a movie ticket? I'm in. For that price I can deal with Silver's "not usable during first two opening weekends" restriction.

Even Jaq and Emery jumped in on the deal!

X-Men Blu-Rays + Movie Tickets = Good Deal

I picked up the first two X-Men movies on Blu-Ray last weekend for $8 a piece. Now while that may not seem like a spectacular deal, each movie came with "$12 Movie Cash" which basically means $12 off a movie ticket to see the new X-Men movie "X-Men: First Class".

So I think of it as I am getting to see a movie I was going to see anyway at a discounted rate ($8 instead of $12), plus I get two free Blu-Rays. Also the tickets don't have any restrictions on them, like the stupid AMC Silver passes do (can't see the movie the first two opening weekends).

I didn't get "X-Men: The Last Stand" or "X-Men Origins: Wolverine" on Blu-Ray because they sucked, but those were also part of the deal.
